Tech IPO Window Opens
It appears that the window for initial public offerings is opening just a bit here (via the Wild West AIM), and even more so in the USA. In Canada this year you’ve seen Sandvine (AIM first and then TSX subsequently) perform well. Which encouraged Redline to try the AIM floatation (it got done, even if $ raised and breadth of distribution was a disappoinment). And now Redknee is on their roadshow. Last year it was the Constellation Software IPO that had a great start on the TSX.
South of the border, the number and size of filings is up dramatically year/year, according to Dealogic.
In 2006, 13 filings at this point with US$1.07 billion in value. In 2007, 24 filings worth US$4.5 billion.
This will be encouraging for VCs as well as the LPs that back the space.
