Carney strikes a populist tone part 2
That didn’t take long.
According to my morning paper, Bank of Canada Governor Mark Carney is already following our advice from yesterday’s post (see prior post “Carney strikes a populist tone” Sept 16-1-). Governor Carney’s visit to the Globe and Mail editorial board generated not one but two story lines, both of which were news worthy. Although I doubt that the governing party was pleased, Mr. Carney allowed himself to get drawn into the debate around the future of Canada’s long form census. Mr. Carney avoided being critical of the government’s position on the matter, yet raised concerns about what it might mean to the BoC — without appearing to take sides between the Conservatives and the Liberals. Proving that he has a great future in politics.
Best of all, the Globe was able to squeeze two photos of the Governor, one of which (A10 of the front section) had that 100 megawatt smile I’ve been telling you about.
The ink is barely dry, but the campaign strategy is already working!
