F22 Raptor hits the date wall
With our investment in CDN fighter pilot co. Top Aces, and our long time exposure to software firms, the story that the U.S. Air Force’s newest bird experienced a total systems crash caught my colleague Jason’s eye.
When crossing the international date line, the F-22 Raptor experienced a total systems crash. Communications and nav computers were rendered useless. Of course, the military blamed the programmers for the outage. To think that for all the Y2K money spent by the U.S. government, nobody thought to deal with the international dateline.
This isn’t the first excitement surrounding the US$125MM F-22, as this crash video shows.
Fortunately, Top Aces flies German/French Alpha Jets, which are both lower tech and substantially cheaper to acquire.
