“Blackmont’s Base Metals and Precious Minerals analyst located in Vancouver, Don Poirier, is returning to a corporate role after 17 years, joining Hecla Mining Company, a mid-sized silver producer, in a senior Business Development role.
National Bank Financial’s Telecom Analyst Tom Astle has left. At this time we are not sure which firm he is moving to. NBF also lost IB associate Michael Psihogios to Swiss private equity firm, Pala Investment Holdings.
Fraser Mackenzie has hired an investment banking analyst Kumail Gangjee from PWC India.
BMO Capital Markets has hired Dirk Hartman to its I&CB London team. Dirk joins them from ABN AMRO, where he was a member of their Metals & Mining team.
In Toronto, BMO lost John Glynn, Vice President Equity Capital Markets to Credit Suisse’s ECM in Toronto.
Doug Clark joined BMO Capital Markets to run the program trading desk. He was previously with broker ITG Canada.
Wellington West lost their mining analyst Greg Huffman to Stark, a Hedge fund out of the US that has a Canadian operation based in Toronto.
Vickie Turnbull left TD Securities’ DCM group to perform the same utilities & infrastructure role at RBC.
And RBC Capital Markets’ trader AJ Gairdner left to join Merrill with his former RBC buddies now at Merrill.
