Jerry Zucker can keep a secret
I catch the subway at the Bloor station each morning, and not a day goes by that I don’t ask myself: “what is Jerry Zucker up to?”
It’s been almost a year since the federal ministries of Industry and Canadian Heritage approved the acquisition of The Hudson’s Bay Company by Maple Leaf Heritage Investments Acquisition Corp., controlled by South Carolina businessman Jerry Zucker.
Shop in the key stores some time, and you won’t see evidence of a scintilla of change in the year since he took control. One might have thought that Mr. Zucker didn’t spend $900 million to have the stores carry on as they had before. The only thing going for him, I suppose, is that he’s making money on the currency moves.
Makes you wonder. What’s he up to?
