“David Thomas has left the Sales desk at Blackmont Capital to join the team at CIBC World Markets.

At the same time, Michael Lam has joined the Blackmont Sales Desk having worked previously in Investor Relations at Falcon Oil and before that on the sales desk at MGI Securities.

In an eleventh hour move, Joel Sutherland elected to stay at Merrill Lynch in a new role covering Boston accounts rather than move to Scotia Capital as the Media Research Analyst as previously reported.

UBS Securities hired salesman Michael Arbus from TD Securities to cover the hedge fund community.

Dennis Westfall has left his role as a Life Insurance Analyst at Merrill Lynch Canada to re-join Andre-Philippe Hardy at RBC Dominion Securities as Hardy’s Associate. The two worked together previously at Merrill.

In another Merrill departure, Tim Clark has joined National Bank Financial’s Equity Sales team in Boston, leaving Merrill Lynch’s Boston office where he was for the past eight years.

Neil Duffy has joined National Bank Financial in Calgary as an Investment Banking Associate.

Khurram Malik has joined Jacob & Co. Securities as a Clean Technology Research Analyst from Westwind Partners.

TD Newcrest has hired Shey Ylonen as a Research Mining Associate.

BMO Nesbitt Burns hired two more Investment Banking Analysts. Francis Lau is joining the Real Estate Team, departing Northern Securities. Also joining is Benjamin Wu from Jennings Capital.
