Questions for the day
1. Why does a slice of banana loaf cost $1.75 at a downtown Starbucks in Vancouver, yet $2.15 in downtown Toronto? Better yet, why does the Toronto airport location charge more for a Latte than the downtown location, when the Vancouver airport Starbucks stores boast that their pricing is the same as other Vancouver locations?
2. Speaking of airports, why are the xray machines at Dorval Airport in Montreal more sensitive than the ones run by the same CATSA at Toronto’s international airport? A very helpful Montreal CATSA employee encouraged me to doff my shoes prior to walking through the metal detector last week. I told her not to worry as they’d been through the Toronto hoops earlier in the day and not caused an electronic peep. “Ours are more senstivie than the ones in Toronto,” she cajoles. “Why aren’t they the same machines?”, I ask. “Good question”, she says.
A good question, indeed.
