Charity Golf Tourney raises $35k
It seems like a lifetime ago, but here’s a quick report on our 1st Annual Wellington Financial Charity Golf Tournament. Although the weather was brutal last Wednesday (7C, windy and sporatic rain), we hosted about 100 golfers at Eagles Nest, north of Toronto. It was a great course, and the Clubhouse staff did a super job on the evening.
The crowd stayed for dinner, which is always a good sign at a golf tournament, and something that is never assured. Although the tally isn’t final, it appears that we raised about $35k for our new Charitable Foundation. The three charities benefitting from the day were The Jean Tweed Centre, the Sunnybrook Hospital NICU, and the National Ballet.
Foundation Chair Kim Bozak served as M/C, and awarded the door prize of a weekend rental of a Porsche 911 Cabriolet Convertible, Chevrolet Corvette or Lotus! The winner was so excited he did a near perfect Pete Townsend scissor kick jump when his name was announced.
Unfortunately, no one got a hole in one on #15, so the free $36k-value one year membership in The Private Collection (an exotic car club owned by entrepreneur Eric Siebert) wasn’t awarded. Eric’s fleet of cars includes Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche and other current model exotic sports cars.
Danny King, one of the two Canadian golf pros that we sponsor corporately, played holes with three different tournament sponsors.
A hearty thanks to our many corporate sponsors. We are grateful for helping us launch or first-ever tournament. And we hope your clients enjoyed it as well.
