You've got to love The Star
The online election feature over at the Toronto Star highlights the seats won by the various political parties. Large type and bright colours. Here’s a skill testing question:
1. Are they in the order of the parties based upon seat count?
2. Are they in the order of the parties based upon electoral vote count?
3. Are they in the order of the parties based upon alphabetical order?
None of the above. What do you suppose is the foundation for this sequence:
Liberal – 76 seats, 26%; Conservative – 144 seats, 38%; NDP – 37 seats, 18%; Bloc – 50 seats, 10%; Green – 0 seats, 7%; Others – 2 seats, 0%.
Could it be predicated upon the recommended political choice of the editorial page?
MRM
So everything else aside… we just spent $300M to remove Dion as leader of the Liberals. A golden parachute could have achieved the same thing for a fraction of the cost.
We also just proved that it is practically impossible to get a majority government in this Country.
MRM: Rank is obviously by prettiness of political party logo. Everyone loves red!
AT: Single party majority governments are a thing of the past, except in the US and the UK, where the “demo” of democracy has been replaced by a Disney dog character that isn’t Goofy. Why the allergy to coalitions in Canada? Sure beats a minority govt…
