Top Mistakes of the Year part 2
It’s already the 23rd. We are running out of time to complete the list of Top Mistakes of the Year (see prior post “Top mistakes of the year” November 20-08).
It is pretty clear that I was all over the map about Research In Motion’s trackball. First there was the useless lobbying of Jim and Mike (see prior post “RIM Makes History” February 13-07) to keep the trackwheel for any enterprise offerings. That was followed by the attempt at holding out (see prior post “I [don’t] want my Bold” August 22-08). Lastly, the inglorious rampage to buy the BlackBerry Bold, regardless of price, on launch day (see prior post “I [don’t] want my Bold part 2” August 29-08).
Who knew that the price would drop a month later (other than Jason, that is)? Which seemed to sadly precede a ~65% drop in RIM’s share price.
At least I’m taking my own advice (see prior post “No more RIM predictions” June 28-07). Another mistake to review, perhaps, in the new year.
MRM
(disclosure – I {still} own RIM)
