A medical perspective on Swine Flu part 2
My doctor is finding it hard to take the “swine flu” email updates I send to him seriously. It may well be that he understandably fails to see what the swine fuss is all about, given that 3,500 Canadians die each year from “the flu”. According to one CNN story, “Worldwide annual death from the flu estimated between 250,000 and 500,000”. My Doc is a very talented fellow, so as long as he’s cool….
And, if you want to be precise about it, “human swine flu” is out; “Influenza A/H1N1” is now the appropriate name if you are on the subway and someone sneezes on you.
If your business does not have a contingency plan in place, a group called “International SOS” offers an off-the-shelf Business Continuity Plan for those companies who do not have one of their own.
Here is a day old update for corporate types; it serves as an example of the type of material you can get for your team if you have anyone travelling internationally with much regularity.
