Ancestry.ca taps the feds' treasure trove
If you are looking to do some real social networking, I’d suggest you have a look at Ancestry.ca / Ancestry.com. They’ve just announced that Ancestry.ca has partnered with Library and Archives Canada to put the 1861, 1871, and 1881 Canadian Censuses online. Indexed and imaged for the first time ever. The Canadian Censuses began in 1851, and Ancestry.ca now has each available census online (including the 1851, 1861, 1871, 1881, 1891, 1901, 1906, 1911 and 1916 Census).
Includes more than 32 million names and 1.3 million images.
It can only mean good things are going on for private equity investor Spectrum Equity Investors. Through their my Generation platform, Spectrum gets 15 million unique visitors each month.
That’s some valuable traffic.
