Bay Street is back!
What’s the best way to determine if Bay Street is out of its 12 month funk? The Parties!
Not the kind of parties that Research In Motion might throw after a $1B financing (featuring Aerosmith and the Bare Naked Ladies), but still pretty good by finance-type standards. At the peak of the last cycle, one might recall the 5th anniversary party that Westwind Partners threw, right around the time of their merger with Thomas Weisel; was it The Hip that night?
Earlier this week, some of the GMP Securities stars threw a party with Icon Burton Cummings as the big draw (and a certain Federal politician?!). That, and getting to watch Wek lead the dancing troupe, yet again, just as he did at the Sunnybrook / Sting concert in May. It’ll come as no surprise that GMP is first out of the gate with a “crash is over” type of event, even if they would never admit that’s what actually happened (one doesn’t want to tempt the market Gods, after all).
Bay Street is back! And not a moment too soon.
