BlueStreak Technology gets into Avatars
No, not the movie.
One of the hot new things for your iPhone, at least in Europe, is putting an Avatar to work for you. Montreal’s BlueStreak Technology, a Wellington Financial Fund III portfolio co., has teamed up with Cellfish Media to help you personalize your phone. No longer do you have to stare at a blank screen:
The companies have teamed to launch a suite of fun, new personalization services for mobile phones that use dynamic animated characters, like Pilou the Hamster and Surimi the Fish, to alert the device owner to changes in phone status, such as battery power and network reception. The services run from the home or idle screens of most major phones and consumers can download these new applications today from iTunes, the Ovi Store, the Android Market or the Cellfish Media Storefront named KKO Club. This international service is now launched in France, running on the Top 100 most popular devices of the local wireless operators, as well as other popular devices worldwide.
The first of the series of services to be launched are dynamic battery status indicators that depict Pilou the Hamster racing on his favorite wheel and Surimi the Fish swimming on the phone’s idle screen. Each animated character becomes less active and more distressed as battery power diminishes. Consumers who download the applications can quickly glance at their phone’s idle screen to determine, by the character’s activity level, if their battery needs to be recharged.
“Mobile phones are becoming increasingly personal, and giving consumers the ability to customize their phones based on their mood or style is an important part of the consumer experience,” said Dominique Jodoin, Bluestreak Technology CEO and President. “The mobile phone’s home and idle screens have traditionally been locations to display simple static images, but with these new animations we now offer richer multimedia options that are both entertaining and informative for the consumer. By combining Cellfish Media’s popular content with Bluestreak Technology’s mobile application solutions, consumers can now animate their phones like never before.”
The new animated character services will run on a wide variety of devices including the latest Android, iPhone, Java, Symbian, and Windows Mobile powered phones.
