Hunger Strike – Day 11
It was kind of David Crow to chime in so eloquently regarding the ongoing Blogging Hunger Strike with his post titled “Integrity, hunger strikes and plagiarism“. It has often been wondered if people will miss us when we’re dead, and the hunger strike provides a similar window. If Day 11 of the Hunger Strike means I stop writing, will anyone actually care? For all of you who have been kind enough to pass along positive remarks when we bump into to each other in public, often at Starbucks, you know I always say the same thing: the fewer smart people reading blogs the better, for the quality bar gets raised every time I become apprised of a new reader. Your needs and expectations for unique research and pithy analysis are bottomless; but we try daily, and, on occassion, might succeed.
David was unnecessarily kind with one particular quote, and it certainly can’t be true, but I know my folks appreciated it nonetheless:
His writing, humor and insights on the financial industry and it’s impact on Canadians is unsurpassed.

(disclosure – as Photo Editor at The UWO Gazette circa 1985/86, I witnessed the launch of the fabulous career of celebrated Maclean’s writer Paul Wells. I think Paul got the chance to cover Dizzy Gillespie at an Alumni Hall concert once, perhaps as Entertainment Editor. He was probably hooked on journalism from that moment forth.)
Difficult to understand why the Globe & Mail is so reluctant to acknowledge their mistake, with the risk of all of us loosing access to your insight.
