Hey Mark…Look forward to watching the segments. I will admit to watching the "Den", primarily for entertainment purposes but I was wondering your thoughts on Brett Wilson, who of all the "Dragons" is the only guy "in the game" and seems to be a really thoughtful and saavy investor.

    Thanks for stopping by Fred.

By all accounts, Brett Wilson is the real deal, although we’ve not met. It seems that he understands that the point of these shows is to be a forum to help guide entrepreneurs (budding or truly legit) on how to succeed, not come down on them like a tonne of bricks.

    Hello Mark,

I am pleased to hear that you will be appearing on BNN’s The Pitch. I had the opportunity to watch the November 3rd episode. I found the companies to be well screened and the panel’s investment thesis’ to be very realistic. I am looking forward to watching your episode. On a side note, I feel that The Pitch (in addition to The Social Network, Dragon’s Den and Shark’s Tank) is just further proof that entrepreneurship and venture capital have become cool and increasingly understood by the mainstream.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with Fred on his opinion that Dragon’s Den is mainly entertainment driven. However, I had the fortune to sit in on a speaking session with Kevin O’Leary at Ryerson University yesterday and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality O’Leary’s commentary. I remember O’Leary’s weekly BNN appearances on Market Call over the years and his ability to zero in on an investment thesis, in my opinion, he still has it, and the sound bites from Dragon’s Den do not portray this ability.
