How to find another $300 million for seniors
Dateline: Ottawa
If NDP Leader Jack Layton would like to double the $300 million that Finance Minister Jim Flaherty dedicated in the budget to improved seniors benefits, all he may have to do is ask. Rather than allow an election to be called tomorrow, Mr. Layton’s party can just abstain from the expected Liberal non-confidence motion. Provided that the government, that is, puts the $300 million that is about to be spent on an “unnecessary election” towards doubling the enhanced senior benefits announced by the Conservatives last Tuesday.
Just a thought.
