Sleeping out for Covenant House on November 15th
On November 15th, hundreds of Industry Leaders and Senior Executives will sleep outside so that homeless youth won’t have to.
I will be one of those men and women, alongside Commander Tim O’Leary, CO of the HMCS York, Brian Burke, GM of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto Police Chief Bill Blair, Andrew Lapham of Onex Corporation, Christine Magee of Sleep Country, and HCapt.(N) Arlene Dickinson, CEO of Venture Communications (yes that fine woman who has to put up with KO each week on Dragon’s Den).
It will be cold. It will be dark. But for one night we can give up the comforts of home knowing it can bring warmth to the young people who need it most.
Sleep Out: Executive Edition is a unique event that will be taking place simultaneously at Covenant House sites across Canada and the United States.
10,000 kids spend some time living on the streets in Toronto each year. You can hear about the story of one, Mike, here. For three decades, Covenant House Toronto has offered some 82,000 homeless kids the opportunity and hope to move from a life on the street to a life with a future. There are countless more out there who need our help.
The request is simple, and I hope you can help us raise some money by sponsoring me today. Your generosity will make a difference to the lives of these kids and help ensure that they will never have to sleep on the street again.
You can visit my personal fundraising page here.
Thanks, in advance. I’ll blog about the experience after the 15th.
